An element is a substance containing an atomic no mass and the atoms of same types and Diamond is a substance which largely carbon atoms so it is regarded as an element.

The correct answer is option D because diamond is an allotrope of carbon which means it has all the properties of carbon because carbon is an element itself.

Diamond's chemical formula is "C" and it gives CO2 on complete combustion. Hence it is a form of carbon (preferably allotrope of carbon).

Ruby, topaz, emerald and sapphire are the name of corals and pearls where as diamond is the allotropic form of carbon which is obviously a metal. Diamond is a example of covalent crystal. Covalent crystals are present only in metals. Hence diamond is also a metal.

Yes, by definition it is wrong that Diamond is an element but it is a form of carbon where one carbon atom bonded with other four carbon atoms and form tetrahedron shape. Due to this diamond is hardest substance.
