On my own opinion, diamond is the right answer even though it is a mineral.

Well, on my own opinion, Carbon is the right answer. Not that it is an element but it is the major component of Carbon which is an element.

Carbon = Atom = Element.
Diamond = 100% carbon.
Diamond = Carbon.
Diamond is Technically an Element because it IS 100% of a single element. Saying Diamond is an element is like saying.
"A house is made of wood, wood is used for building. So that must mean houses are USED for building also".
No, houses (Diamond) are made from building materials (Carbon) Houses are just the accumulation and joining of building materials to form a structure.

Diamond is a allotrope of Carbon. And Carbon itself is a Element. So Diamond is also Element.
