Comparatively, it is an element but actually, it is a compound. So in this question, there is one option we can go for is Diamond otherwise if any option would have been "NONE OF THE ABOVE" then we would have to go for that.

Yes, by definition it is wrong that Diamond is an element but it is a form of carbon where one carbon atom bonded with other four carbon atoms and form tetrahedron shape. Due to this diamond is hardest substance.

Diamond's chemical formula is "C" and it gives CO2 on complete combustion. Hence it is a form of carbon (preferably allotrope of carbon).

Therefore we can conclude that diamond is an element.

Substances which are made up of same type of atoms or molecules formed from joining up of same type of atoms are called elements. According to this diamond can be taken as a element.

An element is a substance containing an atomic no mass and the atoms of same types and Diamond is a substance which largely carbon atoms so it is regarded as an element.

Diamond had a Mohs scale measurement of 10..
But there are some elements(not on earth i think so) which has greater that 10 strength, like carbon fullerenes e.t.c...

The correct answer is option D because diamond is an allotrope of carbon which means it has all the properties of carbon because carbon is an element itself.

Well, on my own opinion, Carbon is the right answer. Not that it is an element but it is the major component of Carbon which is an element.

Diamond is an allotrope of carbon it is made by only one element that is carbon. So it is taken as an element.

Diamond is purest carbon.

I would think the diamond is correct answer cause it is a form of carbon rather than ruby sapphire are natural occurring gem stones.
