Satyajit Ray was an eminent Bengali film director. He won Oscar award ("Pather Panchali" film) for his lifetime achievement. Many of his films Bengali are Nayak, Gupi Gayen Bagha Bayen, Hirak rajar Deshe, Agantuk etc.

He was so a talented and extraordinary person. He wrote so many stories in Bengali. The detective character Feluda is created by him. Except that prof Shanku character is one of his creation. Overall, he was so a creative person. Ray won 21 awards for his direction, including seven Bengal Film, six Indian National Film Awards, two Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival, and two Golden Gate Awards at the San Francisco International Film Festival.

[90] In 1996, Entertainment Weekly magazine ranked Ray at #25 in its "50 Greatest Directors" list. [91] In 2007, Total Film magazine included Ray in its "100 Greatest Film Directors Ever" list.

We all know that this great man is popularly known as a film director. but he had excellence in art too. starting from painting to crafting, he make us prosperous with his masterpiece. So, i think there is a bit of controversy when 'commercial art' is an option. It must be the answer too!
