Can't other oils perform the same function.

Other oils can be used for froth flotation they can but the condition is that if and only if the other oils can reduce the density of water as pine ore does. Now find those oil.

Well, froth floatation is a separation process on the basis of surface properties. The property which causes the separation of particles is density. Not all the particulate materials in practice are hydrophilic. So in order to have a separation, certain promoters and collectors are added. When the mixture is suspended in an aerated liquid, bubbles adhere to those particles which are difficult to wet by liquid (hydrophilic) and the effective density of the particle decrease and separation occurs.

Froth flotation is based on wetting charactersitics of the ore and gangue particles with oil and water particles respectively.

What role is played by pine oil in froth flotation process?

Pine oil enhances non-wettability of the mineral particles.

Why pine oil surround the concentrate only and water surround the gangue concentrate contains certain other elements as well so what compels the pine oil only to surround the mineral particles (concentrate) only?

Why pine oil is used in this process? why not other oil is used?
