So please read carefully in question. So question is say that how many isomers is possible of butane you know question is going to only alkane isomers, not for alkene Cyclo so on. 2 isomer is possible Butane and 2 methy propane.

Isomer means the compounds of same molecular formula having different structures.

Not forget C is and trans form of CH3-CH = CH-CH3. Hence it have total 4 isomer.
