I thing its Nitrogen because rainwater dose contain small amount of nitrus and nitric acids as N2 is the most abundant gas in atmosphere thus when lighting sticks it causes nitrogen to react with oxygen to form NO2 N2O5 etc. Which then mix with water vapor to form acids.
