Ptyalin is a salivary amylase. It is an enzyme produced in salivary gland.

Ptyalin is also called amylase that act on starch. Salivary glands are 3 in number and they secret 3 enzymes namely ptyalin are amylase, trypsin and lipase BT ptyalin function is not completed in buccal cavity so completed digestion of starch occur in intestine.
