Placenta has a foeto maternal origin, the foetal part of the placenta is formed from the trophoblasts and the maternal placenta is formed from the endometrium. It is the only organ in our body that is formed from tissues of two different individuals.

Placenta is disc like structure that attaches the fetus to the uterine lineage of the muscular wall of the uterus. It attaches the child and the mum together and therefore contain extract embryo that protect the fetus from mechanical injuries and other functions protective.
