Doctor's decision for not taking anti-biotics because it is helpful in killing bacteria not viruses. So a viral infection can not be cured by anti-biotics also not by any vaccine because its a preventive measure not a cure, so do not work when the infection is done.

Vaccination is useful as it generates effective immunity system against the infection as throat system is highly affected by swab and cannot be cured by tablets.
