Today, India may lag behind many countries in terms of education, but there was a time when India used to be the center of education. The first university in the world was opened in India itself, which is known as Nalanda University. The ancient Nalanda University was established during the Gupta period in the fifth century, but after the invasion in 1193 it was destroyed.
