Basketball courts come in different sizes and colours.

In the NBA, the court is 94 by 50 feet (29 by 15 m). Under International Basketball Federation (FIBA) rules, the court is minutely smaller, measuring exactly 28 by 15 metres (92 by 49 ft).

A high school court is slightly smaller, at 84 by 50 feet (26 by 15 m). In amateur basketball, court sizes vary widely. The baskets are always 10 feet (3.0 m) above the floor.

Basketball courts have a three-point arc at both baskets. A basket made from behind this arc is worth three points; a basket made from within this line, or with a player's foot touching the line, is worth two points. The free-throw line, where one stands while taking a foul shot, is located within the three-point arc.

The basketball court comes in different shapes and sizes. In the N.B.A., the court is 94 feet by 50 ft (28.65 m by 15.24 m).

Under International Basketball Federation (FIBA) rules,[2] the court is slightly smaller, measuring exactly 28 m by 15 m (91'10.4" by 49'2.6"), although national federations are allowed to use smaller courts, as long as they are at least 26 m by 14 m (85'3.6" by 45'11.2").

A high school court is slightly smaller, at 84' by 50' and some elementary schools have courts measuring 74' x 42'.

In amateur basketball, court sizes vary widely. The baskets are always 10' (3.05m) above the floor (except possibly in youth competition).

The standard court size in U.S. college and WNBA play is 84 feet long by 50 feet wide. The FIBA standard court is slightly smaller, at 28 metres long by 15 metres wide (91 ft 10.4 in by 49 ft 2.6 in). The three-point line is 20 feet and 6.25 inches (6.25 m) from the middle of the basket in WNBA competition but 6.75 m (22 ft 1.7 in) in FIBA competition. Also, there is no block/charge arc under the basket in WNBA, whereas FIBA's 2010 rules created a 1.25 m (4 ft 1 in) block/charge arc.

The court (basketball) should have.

1) Space for dribbling.

2) Space for shooting and tackling hence the dimensions are 84:50.
