To get net force only in y direction, net force in x direction must be zero. Therefore there should be 400N force in negative x direction. This force will be the component of 500N force in negative x direction.
Hence 500cos(theta) = 400.
cos(theta) = 400/500 = 4/5.
Theta = 36.9 degree.
Hence 500cos(theta) = 400.
cos(theta) = 400/500 = 4/5.
Theta = 36.9 degree.
