A group of atoms are known as molecules, such as air.

A group of elements are known as components, such as water.

@Meera, @Jay.

Molecules are two or more atoms chemically joined together. Compounds are two or more different elements joined together chemically.

O2 Molecule Not Compound.

H2O molecule and compound both.

I think the answer is wrong. How mixture is equal to compound?
The mixture of salt and sugar is not a compound.

Can anyone able to explain? Please explain.

Water is a compound. Every molecule of water is made of two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen.

Is H2O a compound as well as a molecule?

Ion is nothing but a charged atom when it looses or gains an electron.

Element - a basic substance that can't be simplified (hydrogen, oxygen, gold, etc...)

Atom - the smallest amount of an element

Molecule - two or more atoms that are chemically joined together (H2, O2, H2O, etc...)

Compound - a molecule that contains more than one element (H2O, C6H12O6, etc...)

A molecule is when two or more atoms join together. A compound is a molecule that contains at least two different elements.

A compound is a type of molecule. A molecule is formed when two or more atoms of an element chemically join together. If the types of atoms are different from each other, a compound is formed. Not all molecules are compounds, since some molecules, such as hydrogen gas or ozone, consist only of one element or type of atom.

Molecule Examples: H2O, O2, O3

Compound Examples: NaCl, H2O
