The electric current is flowing in any circuit just like water flow it is difficult to understand but if we know about basic things happen in plumbing we easy to understand how current is flowing in the circuit which branch it flows very high.

If Water wheel is water circulating system; then in electrical analogy it is a circuit which carries current in a loop. i.e. wheel lift is battery power; rotation is a resistive network; loss of water is power loss;.
