What is the color code for a 220
5% resistor?

Answer: Option
Explanation:
Resistor colour coding series:
Black 0
Brown 1
Red 2
Orange 3
Yellow 4
Green 5
Blue 6
Violet 7
Gray 8
White 9
None 20%
Silver 10%
Gold 5%
Therefore Red, Red, Brown, Gold
2 2 101 5%
= 22 x 10 = 220 ohm 5% (tolerance).

Consider the color series in the resistor from opposite of the tolerance color like gold, silver.
In color series value of red is 2 and value of brown is 1. In resistor take a first two values must be same and the third value, we should be taken as power of 10. In question the 5% is denoted so it is gold.
So, by option A) 2*2*10^1=220. unit of the resistance is ohm. therefore 220 ohm 5%. implies that option [A] is the correct.

R = AB*10^C +or- D.
Where ABCD are color bands on resistor.
D is the tolerance.

Another remembering procedure is:
B B ROY Good Boy Very Good Wife Good Son No problem.
Black 0
Brown 1
Red 2
Orange 3
Yellow 4
Green 5
Blue 6
violet 7
Gray 8
White 9
Gold 5%
Silver 10%
Noring 20%
And for determining the colour coding of a resistor you need to remember the formula :
That is :-
ab*10^c+-tolerance.
Some important points to remember :
> Each resistor has a tolerance ring. Generally they have golden or silver ring for this purpose.
> Sometimes other colours are also used for tolerance.
> The value of a carbon resistor may be obtained by looking at the coloured rings painted on it. Each colour has a numerical value.
> Hold the resistor such that the tolerance ring is on your extreme right. Now take the values of the resistor.
