What is the color code for a 220 omega.gif 5% resistor?
Red, Red, Brown, Gold
Orange, Orange, Black, Gold
Red, Red, Black, Gold
Red, Red, Brown, Silver
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Resistor colour coding series:

Black   0
Brown   1
Red     2
Orange  3
Yellow  4
Green   5
Blue    6
Violet  7
Gray    8
White   9
None    20%
Silver  10%
Gold    5%

Therefore Red, Red, Brown, Gold
           2    2    101    5%

 = 22 x 10 = 220 ohm 5% (tolerance).

Yeah, I agree with the answer and it's clearly explained. Thank you.

The best way to remember the colour coding is to create it in your own sentence, or format.

Formula: (AB)*10^C.

A=RED.
B=RED.
C=BROWN.

We read "B B ROY of Great Britain Visited Gate Way of India".

1st 2 digits are digits 2 & 2.

3rd is multiple. For brown (1) it is 10 to the power 1.

So it is 22x10 = 220.

Third digit in 220 is 0 means black but why 10^1 taken. Can any one explain?

Absolutely write about color coding. I agree with Neha panday but what about next three color bands.
