When the voltage is increased at the input then current increased at output that is why it is voltage controlled current source.

And we are changing voltage that is we are changing electric field. By that we named it as field effect Transistor.

Between gate and source there is infinite resistance (o/c) , only voltage is present and o/p is depend on this gate source voltage (Vgs). So, JFET is voltage controlled device.

When we increase the gate voltage the channel width is decreases so electrons flows throuh channel is less hence current decreases so it is a current controlled device.

The FET is the voltage controlled device. since its output characteristics are controlled by input voltage.

@Neelaj. When you say gate voltage decides the output then obviously it is a voltage controlled device

The output voltage and current depends on the input voltage. So it is a voltage controlled device.

All FETs are voltage controlled hence no current involved in movement of charge carriers.
