Transistor used as an amplifier if proper biasing is supplied.

Transistor act as the amplifier only in the active region. So in order to maintain transistor in the active region base emitter junction should be forward bias and collector base junction be reverse. If the above criteria is not maintain then amplifier output signal get distorted.

To act PNP or NPN transistor as an Amplifier, one junction should be forward biased and other junction should be reverse biased. Option A is sufficient for NPN type transistor.

PNP NPN transistor is commonly biasing for emitter to base forward biasing base to collector for reverse bias method.
