Because input is given to primary and output is taken from secondary.

Input of 230v with 50Hz is given to the primary source and the secondary output is taken and passes through the load.

C and D both are correct. There is no physical significance of primary and secondary. There is only HV and LV side in a transformer. Only for ease input side is considered as primary.

For understanding it more better, if we choose HV for input HV is primary and if we choose LV then LV is primary.

We are applying the voltage at input side so considered as primary winding and the output collected secondary side hence secondary winding.
