1) If 1 k opened no current will flow.

2) If 4.7 k opened 1st reading is correct. Now apply voltage divider rule..i.e.

3) 3/(3.3+1)*10 = 7.67 v which is also correct. So option B is correct.

The voltmeter not showing reading that means meter connection 4.7kohm is open. Then the voltage drop is zero. At open circuit infinity resistance and current is zero. V=infinity of R * I=0.

Simple method is 1st voltmeter is connected lower end terminal of 4.7k. So no voltage can't measure it but if it was connected to upper end then it must show some voltage across it.

Since positive polarity of the battery is grounded, no voltage flows through 4.7 k resistor.
