Why always specify volume for potentiometer?

Potentiometer is used as voltage divider. So it control the voltage therefore voltage control is the most correct answer.

Potentiometer is also known as Volume control. Because potentiometer change the volume of voltage and current.

Naseem says rite volume control and current control are the applications of Potentiometer.

We know that potentiometer can be used for controlling both voltage and in turn current which is nothing but adjusting the resistance value. In audio power amplifiers, the speaker is connected to the load and this load resistance must be a variable one so that we can the volume of the output signal or sound.

Potentiometer is a device which containes a standard cell as reference and measuring the voltage of an unknown cell by using resistance bridge values.

So voltage of cell is related to volume of chemical in the cell.

Thus volume control am I ryt ? :)

In this question it is asking that, In which application potentiometer is using as a voltage divider/controller?

So definitely option A and B are not answers.

From option C and D, C is the answer as for volume controlling we actually dividing voltage.

How volume control?

I agree with Naseem's Ans.

It will be wrong to say that potentiometre is only for volume control. Potentiometre has many application that is

1: Voltage control
2: Current control etc
