What is meant by ringcounter?

What is mean by presetting flip-flops.

I want clear explain about the answer.

Ring counter:-If the output of a shift register is fed back to the input. A ring counter results. The data pattern contained within the shift register will recirculate as long as clock pulses are applied. For example, the data pattern will repeat every four clock pulses in the figure below. However, we must load a data pattern. All 0's or all 1's doesn't count.

What is meant by presetting filip-flop?

Presetting means keeping the flip-flop in 1 output position.

In-Ring counter, the feedback of the output of the FF is fed to the same FF's input. To operate correctly, starting a ring shift counter requires presetting one flip-flop and clearing all others so that it can shift to the next bit.
