The atomic configuration of carbon goes like this:2, 8, 4. So at the outermost orbit there are 4 electrons. So it could be considered as a semiconductor.

Mica hve near about 7 ev, ceramic is roughly 2kev, argon have 14. 6 ev. As carbon is having lssr band gap so might be possible for carbon 2 use as semiconductor.

Carbon is not a semiconductor element due to diff. Type of unpredictable properties of it and the fact that its forbidden energy gap has large value of energy gap.

Usually the semiconductor contain four valency electrons.
As the carbon contain four valency electrons, it may be considered as semiconductor.
