Band Pass Filter: Low Pass Filter + High Pass Filter ==> (L & C will be in Series; with R in Series).
Band Stop Filter: High Pass Filter + Low Pass Filter ==> (L & C will be in Parallel; with R in Series).

In parallel one element is always short at high or low frequencies (l or c) so all signls are present at both low and high so it's band reject.
