Explanation is due to the current flowing in R and L have 90-degree phase different the total current cannot be plus.
So, I(T) = sqr(I(L)^2 + I(R)^2).

Here IT = IR2 + IL2 .
So IT = 2.52 + 1.52 .
= 6.25
= 2.5 A
So IT = 2.52 + 1.52 .
= 6.25
= 2.5 A
