@Abel : Resonant freq will occur in rlc/lc ckt(f=1/2*pi*L*C) and moreover resonant freq will result only when impedance of the circuit is at its minimum in series ckt (Here the resistance is increased). arctan is inv(tan) or tan^-1.

phase shift= arctan[xc/R],

phase shift is inversely proportional to R so as R increases phase shift decreases.
