If you pass current through a straight wire, a magnetic field is formed around the wire in the form of circular rings.

According to Left hand rule the magnetic filed is generated around the conductor when current flows from it. The direction of magnetic field is in the direction of folded fingers when thumb of hand is pointing the direction of current.
