We used ohmmeter to check shorted LEDs during college. Why is it not possible now?

I think some analog tester can be used as a tester for LED since it has a supply of 2-1.5V battery that make it 3volts enough to supply LED to light.

Only a diode can be tested with an ohmmeter.
