Zener Breakdown Voltage occurs at a relatively low voltage for it to provide a steady voltage drop in reverse bias(i.e. Vz = 5 V).

Zener Avalanche breakdown is the one that occurs at a very high voltage and it is different than that of the Zener breakdown voltage.

Zener Effect is a Pre-dominant for Breakdown voltage < 4 V.
Avalanche Effect is Pre-dominant for Breakdown voltage > 6 V.
Both Effects are Pre-dominant for Breakdown voltage of 4V to 6 V.

Why is it that a zener diodes cannot be tested with an ohm meter but a diode can?
