In parallel RC/RLC/RL Ckts, get the admittance (Y) first. Y= G + jBc - jBL;
G =1/R; Bc =2pi*f*C; BL= 1/(2pi*f*L);
Y= 1/Z >>> Z is impedance.
Y = 1/12 + j1/5 >>> Z=1/Y=4.61 angle -67.38.

12*5/12+5.
= 60/17,
= 20/5.2.
= 4.2 ohms.

For parallel circuit finding the total impedance is you need to find 1st the total admittance Y.

Y = R+jXc.
Y = 13 ohms,
Z = 1/Y,
Z = 0.076 ohms.

For "SERIES" RC circuit Z=√(R^2+Xc^2).

But for "PARALLEL" RC circuit Z=R*Xc/√ (R^2+Xc^2).

The correct answer is 13 ohm.

Impedance Z in parallel RC circuit.
1/Z = √[(1/R^2)+(1/Xc)^2].

=√[(1/144)+(1/25)]=0 .21656.

Z = 1/0.21656= 4.617ohm.

Impedance of parallel RC circuit is:

Z = R*Xc/(sqrt(R^2+Xc^2).
Plug in all values then you'll get 4.615384615 ~ 4.61

I also agree that the answer is 13 ohm.

It's 4.615.

RXC/√xc^2+r^2.
You will get 4.615.
