In ac circuit, the effective volatage is = sqrt of (vr * vr + vc * vc).

I didn't understand the solution can anybody solve little more simple.

Because there is a imaginary terms are there so we use squart.

In the starting of question 20Vac circuit accounts for what?

ABAR said:   6 years ago
Total voltage is V = square root of(Vc square +Vr square).

Vt= SQRT((20*20) + (40 *40)).

= SQRT(2025).

= 45.

@Anil.

V given is 20. So applied voltage is 20vac.
