Comparator will tells us about the given input with respect to the applied (vcc generally).

If applied input is greater than input then gives high output(1).

If applied input is low then gives low output(0).

In this way we can get the rectangular wave.

Schmitt trigger circuit are used to generate square waveform.

Output voltage is +Vsat.

Vvf= (+R1*Vsat)/(R1+Rf).

Output voltage is -Vsat.

Vvf= (-R1*Vsat) / (R1+Rf).

Comparator output is always a rectangular wave having two distinct voltage levels. So we don't have to bother about the inputs.

It works in the non linear region. So the o/p either Vsat or -Vsaturation.

Astable multivibrator is a comparator and its o/p is rectangular wave.

Comprator is always rectangular wave because multi vibrator.

In case the input is sawtooth wave output is?

Output will be same rectangular waveform.
