Why called square way?

Because the wave doesn't complete 100%.
Rectangular /2=square. In waveform.

Since it has a duty cycle of 50% then it would be on for the first 50% and then off for the next 50% which makes it equal then the shape is more likely to be a square rather than a rectangle.
