In DC, deflection angle θ is directly proportional to current if scale is linear.
In AC, θ is directly proportional to current*current then is nonlinear or cramped.
As V=IR. Θ directly proportional to volts *volts. This is possible with AC meters only. Hence DC meter reading is zero.
