Because rectangular waveguides have a much larger bandwidth over which only a single mode can propagate, standards exist for rectangular waveguides.
Standard waveguides are designed such that the waveguide height is half the waveguide width.
Ratio of width to height = W/H = W/ (W/2) = 2.
