Please give the name of 8085 sign flag.

Why? Give me the reason.

Five sign flags in 8085.

The flag register in 8085 is an 8-bit register which contains 5-bit positions.
These five flags are of 1bit F/F and are known as zero, SIGN, carry, parity and auxiliary carry. For sign flag, if the result of an MSB operation is 1 then it is set else it is reset.

It has only 5 flags.

They are,
1. Sign flag
2. Zero flag.
3. Parity flag.
4. Carry flag.
5. Auxillary carry.

How? Explain in detail.

5085 has one sign flag ie s-flag.

Basically 8085 consists of 5 flags. I.e.,
1.carry
2.parity
3auxillary carry
4.Zero
5.sign.

So, in this sign flag is one type of flag. It doesn't consists any other types of flags.

In the 8085 microprocessor, the flag register has five status flags and one control flag.

The status (sign) flags are:

- Sign (S) – indicates the sign of the result (MSB).

- Zero (Z) – set if result is zero.

- Auxiliary Carry (AC) – used in BCD arithmetic (carry from bit 3 to bit 4).

- Parity (P) – set if result has even parity.

- Carry (CY) – set if there is a carry/borrow out of MSB.

And the control flag is:.

- Trap (T) – used for enabling the trap interrupt.

So, strictly speaking, 8085 has 5 status flags (often called condition flags) and 1 control flag, making a total of 6 flags.

Answer: 8085 has 5 sign/status flags + 1 control flag = 6 flags in total.
