Permanent Magnet Moving Coil (PMMC) is only used for DC measurements, Moving Iron (MI) type instruments can be used for both AC & DC measurements.

Rectifier-type instruments are used for both AC & DC measurements. Induction-type instruments are only used for AC measurements.

Yes @Rit, it can only be used for dc measurement as during the negative half cycle of ac direction of torque applied will be reversed and average value of the applied torque during positive and negative half will be zero, and there will be no deflection in the pointer.

Yes, only DC but can be for low-frequency AC if used along with a rectifier type of instrument but in this question, the answer should be option B.

PMMC type can be used for direct current measurements only.

Place only use for DC, not for ac.
