The answer is correct, it talks about the carrier not on modulated signal.

Answer A([A].remains constant, does not remain constant) is correct as far as AM is concerned. Normal AM is carrier plus modulated signal, thus keeping the carrier with it untouched.

The correct answer is option B. Because in AM the amplitude of carrier signal varies according to the instantaneous value of message signal.

This is the wrong answer. The answer should be B.
In AM which is Amplitude modulation so amplitude of carrier will be changed according to modulating signal and frequency remain constant. In FM which is frequency modulation so frequency will be changed according to modulating signal and amplitude remain constant in FM.
In AM which is Amplitude modulation so amplitude of carrier will be changed according to modulating signal and frequency remain constant. In FM which is frequency modulation so frequency will be changed according to modulating signal and amplitude remain constant in FM.
