If the bandwidth is increased by 2, the γFM γAM (where γ is the ratio of SNR of output to SNR at input, FM is frequency modulation and AM is amplitude modulation) is increased by a factor of

Due to the doubling of frequency, the SNR in FM is also increased twice and hence is given as 4. Whereas the frequency has no(less) effect in AM, hence is not considered.

P.S: this is what ive understood. do correct me, if it is an mistake.

F=3/2* mf^2 for FM and for AM F={m^2/ (2+m^2)}.

Here for FM, it will be 2^2=4 and AM it is same.
So the answer is 4.
Here F=Figure of merit.

SNR is directly proportional to Bandwidth, Square bandwidth is inversely proportional to noise.
