Because in which angle is -tan'wt (tan inverse wt), and corner frequency is nothing but the pole of system or inverse of time constant is 1/T.
So angle at corner frequency i.e. at w=Wc=1/T is -tan'(T/T) or -tan'(1) = -45 degree.
So angle at corner frequency i.e. at w=Wc=1/T is -tan'(T/T) or -tan'(1) = -45 degree.
