The filter is nothing but a capacitor. Capacitor always blocks dc right, then how will be the output of capacitor be dc?

Since the capacitor filter is connected in parallel across the output, the ac signals get bypassed through the capacitor and only the dc signal comes to the output. But this holds true only in ideal case, practically still some ripples are there at the filter output.
