In figure v1 = 8 V and v2 = 4 V. Which diode will conduct?
D2 only
D1 only
Both D1 and D2
Neither D1 nor D2
Answer: Option
Explanation:

D1 will conduct and the output voltage will be about 7 V. Therefore D2 will be reverse biased and will not conduct.

How ! both diode are forward than only d1 way ?

How is correct option B?

Option C is the correct answer. Because both diode are forward biased and above cutoff voltage.

B is correct answer. First you suppose that both are forward biased and then find out the voltage at node. You will see that diode D2 will reverse biased.

How output voltage was 7v?

B is the right answer. Because d1 conducts d2 will be in reverse biases mode. D2 will not conduct that time.

How D2 is reverse biased?

Output voltage will be 5V only (not 7V). So D2 will be reverse biased.

B is the correct. Because of D1 has more than D2 voltage range. Hence D1 only conduct.

How did you say, diode D2 is not conduct?
