When the transistor is in saturated region no more amplification occurs.

Explanation: In active mode I (c) increase with I (B). [i.e I (c) = B i (B)]. When this comes to saturated, this relation no more valid. This results to a clipping output.

It's a form of distortion where parts of the signal are "missing" (replaced is a better word here). The parts which exceed a certain threshold (the peaks) are replaced with the threshold.
