Potential barrier, Vbi = kT/e ln(NaNd/Ni^2)
> Vbi depends on T(temperature)
> Ni is intrinsic concentration of the material which is different for different materials, like for Si Ni = 1.5*10^10 cm^-3
> Vbi depends on Na and Nd which is the doping concentration in p-type and n-type respectively.

@Anirban.
This answer is not related to above question but it helps you to understand how barrier potential Is proportional to the temperature.
Vbi = kT/e ln (NaNd/Ni^2).
Since, NaNd < Ni^2.
Which makes ln (NaNd/Ni^2) a negative value. When temperature increases the value of Vbi value decreases.

@Prathi.
Due to formation of PN junction there is a concentration of holes and electrons near junction at n and p region respectively. This leads to potential barrier:.
Given by P= (kT/q) ln (Nd * Na /ni* ni).
Also, barrier potential of PN junction depends on temperature, doping and material.

So, from this relation we can see that barrier potential I proportional to the temp. So as temp increases barrier potential also increases.

I know as temperature increases the barrier potential will decreases.
Could someone please explain me the relationships in detail.

Simiconductor meterial, amount of doping, the temperature, all of these are the main part of a diod.

Will this barrier potential varies with the semiconductor material used? how?
