LEDs operates between 1.7 - 3.3 volts wherein:

Red: 1.7 - 2 volts.
Yellow: 2 - 2.3 volts.
Green: 2 - 2.6 volts.
Blue: 3 - 3.3 volts.

Some books say that it operates from 1.8 - 3.7 whereas red is 1.8 - 2 volts and blue is 3.1 - 3.7 volts

LED is a diode and it can not be operated on high voltage or more than 5v.

Depending on the colour the range of the operating voltage level for LEDs is in between 2_4v.
