Hello friends,

Find below steps to solve problem:

Cz - Temperature Coefficient of zener diode.
T1 - Temperature at nominal voltage.
T2 - Temperature at 2nd condition.
V1 - Nominal voltage.
V2 - required voltage.
Vd = V2-V1.

Formula:

Vd = Cz x V1 x (T2-T1)/100.

Solution:

Vd = 0.05 x 5.1 x (120-25)/100.

Vd= 0.242.

but Vd= V2-V1.

V2 = Vd+V1.

V2 = 0.242+5.1.

V2 = 5.34V.

Hence answer is Option D.

No need for a computation because the question is the "nominal voltage" and not the nominal Zener voltage. Therefore, the answer is in the given, 5.1V.

Don't confuse about your answer 6.03. It is also correct but what is asked is NOMINAL VOLTAGE and not "nominal Zener voltage".

Vf = 5.1*[1 + (0.05/100)*(120-25)],
Vf = 5.43225 V.
