If the resistance is very high means no current passes through the diode that means the circuit is opened.

A diode will give high resistance only in reverse bias condition not in forward bias condition.

When the diode in forward condition resistance will be high. That means no current can flow through it and voltage across the diode will be high. When the device is opens we can get this characteristics. So that this is open diode.

In semiconductor diode FB offered low resistance & RB offered high resistance. If both bias it indicate high means diode is open.

Before giving external supply because of diffusion (p to n) electric field induces across the junction. This electric field create drift (n to p) both drift and diffusion balance current is zero from n to p, and from p to n. So offered resistance is equal.

If the circuit having high resistance, current flowing through the circuit is zero because both are inversely proportional. If the circuit having low current then it is open circuit.

In open circuit condition no current will flow means high impedance can be present. So the diode will be open switch when it offer high impedance.

When there is very high resistance across the circuit it meansthat the current value is negligible or no current flows through the circuit and ehen no current flows at very high resitance the circuit is open.
