You said that vds=[id(rd+rs)] by this answer becomes 2v then it becomes -6v.
Can you give correct formula for vds.

Applying kvl:

Ig * Rg + Vgs + Id * Rs = 0

Ig = 0 cause there is no current flowing into the gate.
Vgs= - 6m * 1k = -6V.

For more clarification on negative sign, directly apply kvl on gate source loop.

Why -ve sign?

Apply kvl across gate and drain.

Formula is Vgs= -(Id*Rs)
(1)

Kirupa said:   1 decade ago
Vgs= -(Id*Rs)

Because vgs= -vs.
