Since RL is variable therefore Vi will be fixed and Ir will be fixed.
IR=IZ+IL, since IR is fixed then IZ and IL, is variable.
IZ = IR-IL, increasing IL by decreasing RL would decrease but it would not affect IR since it is fixed.
